you don't need s8 to handle a larger drive, if you set the geometry by
hand in format.

2.6 for example has a 16k cylinder limit iirc, but drives always
autoreport their geometry as 16 heads * 64 sectors.  solaris can
handle way more than that [256 * 768?], so get creative.  start by
going to the drive maker's site and finding what geometry they
recommend...  as long as you get the total blocks [almost] covered,
the geometry doesn't really matter.
