not only do you have to have the wifi utilies, but you also have to have the correct pccairo driver to match the version of wifi driver.

you probably also need the entire tadpole utilities software set as it has specialized pcmcia drivers that are need.

the tadpole utilities are specific to a specific solaris release -

search their ftp site (ftp.tadpole.com) - look through all the laptops, not just the IIi directories - and try and find the utilities iso that matches your os version.

otherwise the cisco aironet cards are good cards.

memory for the IIi is proprietary - the only you will find is either direct from gd/tadpole at an unrealistic price - or off ebay by buying another machine and scavenging the memory out of it. it comes in 64mb, 128mb, 256mb, 512mb units - if memory serves me right.

there are two spaces available for the proprietary memory cards, accessable through the bottom panel on the laptop. look in some of the laptop obsolete directories etc.

the one really nice thing about the sparcbook IIi and IIe that none of the other tadpole laptops share is that it has a "true" unix scancode keyboard - all the others have a pc scancode keyboard - something you quickly learn to appreciate when you load new o/s - patches etc. (hint - the other laptops require the use of a usb keyboard - yours doesn't <grin>)

the native scsi port is nice as well ...

sometimes i wish I still had a IIi ....

regards
steve
