Of, there's always this:

1.  boot off cdrom to single-user mode
2.  dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hd<x>
3.  let run for about 20 seconds

bingo, fresh/wiped MBR. 8-)  I've used this (with RedHat on a PC) to
take care of quirky / pesky HD repartitioning problems.
