That's normally what I would do, but I guess what I'm really looking
for is being able to have my cake and eat it too. So my "perfect
world" solution would be that I could sit at the couch, watching TV
with my wife, while having access to a beefy workstation in the other
room via my laptop. Some of the new VM stuff claims to be able to do
this, but they all have their drawbacks. RemoteFX only runs with
windows servers, SPICE doesn't support 3d (yet), VNC starts to die at
higher frame rates and MS RDP just out right refuses to work with GPU
acceleration.

This is where I thought some sort of hardware solution would work, but
perhaps not.
