Hmmm, looking at the man page for zfs receive it does look like if you
don't use -d it will let you change the received name.  So it might be
worth a try to split the flar and attempt to do a zfs receive with a new
volume name.

i.e.  zfs receive -vn notroot <stream ?  and if it goes through the
motions of what you want, try it without -n?
