Just remember, part of it is design and part is execution ... 

IBM had the design but for some reason or other did not have the
execution...

Jobs claimed he would have fast G4's several years ago ... they never
came on time.  He dumped Motorola and got IBM.

Jobs was assured by IBM that 3GHz G5's would be commonplace by the end
of 2004 - never happened.

Now he will move to Intel for some things and be able to use AMD or
VIA as secondary sources if needed.  

Intel can deliver in terms of shipping stuff out of their fabs
(i.e. they can execute a plan).
