[rescue] Booting SATA on an old BIOS

I've been trying for the past few days to get my new SATA drive (80GB SATA150
Seagate 7200RPM Barracuda) to boot without an IDE drive in the system. My BIOS
has no settings that want to work with booting the SATA drive (it's a PCI
controller, not an on-motherboard controller).

So far, I've managed to get my BIOS a year closer to current (now it's
16/01/2003 rather than 19/07/2002), which didn't get me anything other than the
ability to boot from USB...

I really don't want to have an IDE drive in the system (other than my CD/RW and
DVD drives, that is)... For reference, here are my PC specs:

CPU Type: Intel Celeron 4, 1700 MHz (17 x 100)
Motherboard Name: Soltek SL-85MIV(-L) (3 PCI, 1 AGP, 2 DIMM, Audio, Video)
Motherboard Chipset: VIA VT8751 Apollo P4M266
System Memory: 640 MB (DDR SDRAM)
BIOS Type: Award (01/16/03)
Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 (128 MB)
3D Accelerator: nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor [NoDB]
Audio Adapter: VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller
IDE Controller: VIA Bus Master IDE Controller
SCSI/RAID Controller: Silicon Image SiI 3112 SATALink Controller
Disk Drive: Maxtor 2F030J0 (30 GB, 5400 RPM, Ultra-ATA/133)
Disk Drive: ST380013 AS SCSI Disk Device (80 GB, 7200 RPM, Serial-ATA/150)
Optical Drive: ATAPI CDRW 52X32 (52x/32x CD-RW)
Optical Drive: HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8161B (16x/48x DVD-ROM)
Network Adapter: D-Link DFE-528TX PCI Adapter

Any ideas would be good.
