   SMB throughput, with all its attendant overhead, and not peak speed
either because this is average over a lot of moderate-sized files instead
of one huge file. It was a copy from a Duron 800 running Win98 to a
PII/233 running Win98. I believe both disks in question were running at
least UDMA33.

   Given the limitations of the machines and operating systems involved
and the suboptimality of the test, I'm satisfied with these numbers. If
nothing else, it gets me back up into the ballpark I was in with fast
ethernet, so I can feel good about leaving the FDDI in place. :)
