Your best bet would be an IBM Selectric - the keyboard
is wired to the mechanism - they used to be popular
output devices for folks that couldn't afford a real
printer... I am guessing about the input ability...

Byte or Kilobaud magazines from the late 70's would
have all the info you might need for such a feat!
