I can only speak for London, but its said to be one of the most expensive
cities in the world to live in, most of the big high-paying tech companies
are based in the Docklands area, which is where up until recently I
worked, I rented a furnished three-bedroom flat (read: appartment) in
Docklands for 1500UKP a month. Road travel in london is almost impossible during peak
periods and the tube is constantly packed during rush hour (I start work
at 10am and still have to fight to even get on the train, all hope of seating
is lost!)... oh and every now and then the train station close to where
you work will be blown up by the Irish (not that I am bitter about almost
being blown up... much!)

London has lots of different ethnic cultures which leads to some great
resturants and take-aways :P

I have lived here for three years and have only been attacked once... by a
goup of christians who took a disliking to my t-shirt... so that was my
fault!

London isn't for everyone, I know a lot of people who are stuck in deadend
jobs with big bills for poor accomodation, personally I love city
living... there are cleaner cities, there are cheaper cities and there are
safer cities but I kinda like London *holds up a Union Jack and goes off
to find a gap to mind*
