Netmax Linux router

I wanted to vent about this product so maybe someone else wont go through
the same "agro" Ive been through. So far Ive installed this firewall
solution more than 7 times, of that 2 times it worked for a very short time.

Any of the user manuals are not even close to how the installation works. As
of March the 12, 2001 Netmax had stopped supporting its 2.2 product, so I
was blackmailed into purchasing the version 3 Netmax which shows up as
2.2.3? In addition, guess what it does? exactly the same thing in this new
version. (out of pocket $53 more dollars) Im up to $160 on the software,
$250 on a box to use it on

It goes into single user mode and has a # prompt. If you are an expert you
maybe able to trouble shoot the installation using the command line. Any
suggestions on how to fix it or kill it completely? I've tried partition
magic, to reformat, using Linux extended, fat, etc...

The software has a hard time finding any Ethernet interfaces. I have tried
it on 5 motherboards and several different hard drives and Ethernet cards
recommended by NetMax.

Console and remote installations no such luck. Eventually what happened to
the 2 good installs one I F** Up by changing the firewall rules on one of
the two interfaces. The other time it blew up all by itself and the Apache
interface wouldnt let me in to change the rules.

My Linksys firewall - router has worked without a hitch. The only problem
which is minor is it only uses one inbound - outbound IP address. So if you
have multiple addresses you can't use more... or, am I mistaken?

Cliff
Thanks for supporting the best list on the Net. And thanks for the 670MP
SCSI Cable.
