The firmware really isn't Sun-specific, it just changes the default sector
size of the drive.

Recent versions of Solaris (2.6 and up?) can boot from a CDROM drive with
2048-byte sectors _provided the boot PROM supports this as well_.  Most
sun4m and up do.
