Avoid the Philips CD-R/RW drives.  Like the plague.

If you end up having more time, get a Plextor 8/4/32 refurb drive from 
them (online @ plextor.com) for like $68, and then get a USB external
enclosure for around $100.  The Plextor burners (even the IDE ones) are
the best I've ever used.

I've got one in an IDE<->Firewire enclosure, on my Mac.
