Vodka tastes as vodka
Home-brew vodka tastes as... almost vodka, if you're lucky. :-)
Home-brew liquire (pure alcohol) tastes like ... alcohol, with no taste.
(if you get your hands on good stuff) :-)

Man, Aquavit tastes terrible IMO.
Better of with "Nykopings". That, my friend, is pure snowmobile-fuel.
