If you're scared you'll be risking your job if you try to use a better
OS platform to do your job then you're probably in a very unstable and
risky situation in the first place.  That could be either because you're
at the very bottom of the food chain; or maybe it's because you've
already got enough tensions in your workplace that any excuse will do.

The way you might change the first one is to show that you know how to
do a better job with better tools, and the way you change the second is
to look for a better job with a better work environment (and in the mean
time do what you can to make your current situation better while trying
not to attract undue attention to yourself! ;-).

After all, you do create the circumstances you must live with!  ;-)
