Be careful!!!

Because most device files are owned by root or bin and in the group bin or sys; you may actually prevent other users from using hardware or peripherals by removing the write option for others.

For instance, the device files for the monitor have to allow others to write to it in order to actually use it.  Disk drives, printers and most any other devices are the same way.

I personally would not recommend this option, you may create a great deal of extra work for yourself trying to restore the accesses to the devices.
