Sun used to distribute the Solstice package with the operating system.  In
it was the Solstice Disksuite, which could be used to create a software
raid across multiple drives.  I believe Disksuite saw it's last release
with Solaris 7, though I'm not exactly sure.

The raid is handled entirely via software.

It is possible to use this package both via the GUI (X), and the
commandline.  The X interface was pretty easy to work with, but not
required as I recall.

Follow best practices, and you'll be alright.
