[Sunhelp] /home error again

I have a 1/2 inch tape( a dinosaur)
when i tried to restore the tar file=20
>tar xvf /dev/rmt/1
it said=20

'cannot create directory on /home/****'
'operation not applicable'

any one has an idea???
