It's hopeless.  We can't give the world a clue -- or even just to those
who cry out desperately in need of them.

I often get told that I couldn't have been on IRC before '91 since
that's when the RFC came out.  Uh huh.  Whatever.  newbies/kiddies
always spout the party line and tell me to RTFM or RTFRFC -- yet
they can't even tell me *which* manual or RFC to read (nevermind
that I probably read it before they knew what the Internet was).
