MY 3GS seems to "crash" out of CDE and take me back to the CDE login
screen whenever I use fbconfig -m 2 or fbconfig -m 4 ... and microsoft
explorer 5. Has anyone else witnessed a sparcbook 3 GS/GX exhibiting
this type of behaviour? I thought there was a tadpole patch for
16bitness or something, but all of the tadpole pacthes were installed --
and it's still crashing.
The crashes aren't memory related. I have 64MB swap and I've done a
swap -a for 64more MB of swap. I can run like 15 copies of emacs,
netscape and IE5 (under 8bit display) ... but when I run StarOffice and
the text editor -- it will crash every time when I use a "draw object"
command.
I'm still working to narrow down why using the ATA disk causes a hard
lock up. I'm not sure to suns having this many problems! It's
reminding me far too much of how PEECEEs operate with winderz and stuff.
Scott
ps: I just mounted the ATA disk, did a cd /mnt/tmp and cat'd a file...
and the system hung hard. I can ls -laR /mnt and it's ok... I just
can't seem to read from it. :-/
