I forgot to add to turn of "Burn Free" "Seamless Link" or any other buffer
underrun prevention technology. They work by stretching the standard for
inter block gaps, and older drives can not read the disks with the
bigger gaps.
If you are using a burner to read the disks and it does not write using
one of these technologies, it is very likely it can't read disks written
with them either.
AFAIK all DVD drives support reading disks written using it.
Older drives also have color problems, if you look at the recording surface
of the disk and it is blue it has less of a chance of being read in an old
CD drive. The ones that look silver or gold work better.
Brand may matter too, I have had the best results with TEAC brand disks.
Verbatim (or is it Verbatum?) disks sold here are absolute crap, being
a different product than the ones sold under that name in the US.
Geoff.
