I just downloaded 9055256 bytes in 11.57 seconds, which FTP reported as 782.94 KBytes/sec, or nearly 8 megabits/second on a P233/MMX laptop over 802.11g.

This was a Win2K laptop with a cardbus card (ZyXEL G-102) accessing a Sun Ultra 10 via command-line built-in FTP...
