Speaking of scripts ... the start|stop|report script I use is at ...

http://artell.net/shel ... in the "scripts" directory.

It expects the programs to be in /usr/local/bin/distribfold1,
/usr/local/bin/distribfold2, etc., and, while written for IRIX, could easily
be adapted for something else.
