Check your termination. In theory you're supposed to have a terminator 
at each end of the scsi chain. I've also found that sometimes NOT 
having an external terminator makes some setups work. Do you have 
another external case to try? If it's got the amphenol type connector 
on it, that's for SCSI-1 and might not work properly with a SCSI-2 
drive. If this is a one time operation, and it did in fact copy the 
data correctly, then I wouldn't worry about it too much.

SCSI can be weird sometimes. A few years ago, I had a SCSI chain with 
several drives on it that would only work if it had only one terminator 
in the MIDDLE of the chain (the terminator had 2 connectors on it), 
which was a setup that certainly shouldn't have worked! So I guess the 
best thing to do is experiment a bit until you get a setup that works 
the way it's supposed to, even if it's not laid out like it's supposed 
to.
