[rescue] Sun-Seagate drive firmware

Is Sun in the habit of loading their OEM drives with non-standard firmware?

Specifically, ST19171WC drives, purchased surplus from as surplus, they
are in sealed bags with Sun part numbers in a padded box with Sun stamped all 
over it, and I was told they might have Sun firmware. 

But, I thought that Sun didn't do wierd firmware, unlike clarion.
