No improvement on the source of TimeKeeper RAMs, but the method he describes 
works just fine (except that I think it's nvstore, not nvsave...)

I have 3 or 4 machines in production with this hack right now, and this works 
just fine (as a matter of fact, the mailserver I'm using to send this message 
is using one of the "new" ones this very instant.

It's really not as hard as it looks.
