[rescue] Update [was: Calling HP Laserjet experts]

Thanks to everyone for their recent printer advice!

It has arrived. After a 20 day tour of the US, courtesy UPS, my (now
damaged) HP Laserjet 4si arrived today. The good news: two letter size
input trays, in ok condition. The bad news: no postscript simm (ok, I
didn't expect one), no memory (again, wasn't really expecting any simms),
no toner (oops, that makes it hard to check this thing out), no network
card (hmm...there was one in the pic), and a nice 2" dent in the bottom of
the metal frame--probably where they dropped kicked it. Hopefully I'll get
UPS to pay off on the damage.

Anyway, I'm hesitant to spend for a toner cartridge until I know for sure
how this deal is going to finish up (considering the condition this sucker
is in). It would be helpful at least to pull the page count, but as I
understand it the count is printed as part of the test page...does anyone
know a way to get it to spit out the page count on the LCD panel, like the
old LJ IIP?

I'm out ~$100 all told, so it's not the end of the world if I get stuck
with bending sheet metal and cleaning up this unit...just a little
disappointing after the long wait.
