Chad:
I think I'll post this to the list..

The Container Store was started here in Dallas, and is one of those urban
myth success stories in its doh! value.

Doh! 1:
A soccer mom type had the idea. 'wouldnt it be neat' if you could buy all
sorts of boxes and containers in one place, instead of going to Hardware
Store, KMart, Sears, 5&dime.. etc.

Doh! 2:
Local architect begrudgingly agres to help his friend design the store, even
though wont get paid, but a percentage instead

The rest is history...

HUGE operation, Millions for everybody involved. Multi-state operation
now. Contract sales as well as neighborhood stores.

Metro-

Lots of used Metro shelving around, but be aware there are about 4-5
different finishes, inc:
Chrome (home use-- prettiest)
Stainless (restaurant grade. also more expensive)
Nickel-plate (not as pretty)
weird food-grade industrial, but not stainless

Used restaurant Metro, if used 'in back', can be pretty nasty and abused.
There is good clean chrome available though. Also available from used
shelving dealers and used Fixtures

C&H (www.chdist.com / 1 800 558 9966) is a Giant Sears catalog of warehouse
and industrial stuff.. fun to look thru the catalog. All retail $$ prices
though.
Pallet RAcks, Dock Plates, Industrial Fluid Handling Containers, Bunny
Suits, Safety Stickers, Fire-Prof Fluid Dispensers, Earplugs.. it just goes
on and on. Free Catalog!!
