[SunRescue] note on living expenses

First thing, I actually did list my internet cost. I pay $69 a month for a
1.5 mb full duplex lan connection into the 0C3 that my condo complex shares.
450 Units, about 25% of them use the service. I have seen the full 1.5mb to
the head end of the link, but usually I get about 800k both ways. For that
price I also get 3 static IP's, and no restrictions on service, i.e. I can
run servers no problem.

I have the addtron 802.11b wireless net in my house. The bridge was $200 on
sale, and the adapters are about $100 a pop. They work great, and I can
actually use my laptop as a laptop rather than a portable desktop.

I am seriously considering getting ricochet (it's pretty good coverage here
in the Bay Area) so I can binrg my own internet access into client sites
when I do a gig rather than begging for whatever connection they have handy.
I'm still working past that $79.95 a month thing though. It just seems like
rather a lot to pay for relativley low speed service. Of course it's better
than the $.039 a minute I get charged when I use my cellular modem.

I would KILL to have Riccochet here in Austin. Just so I could have
a wireless laptop in the bedroom...

(Anybody know of a better 802.11 source for a PCMCIA adapter, two
PCI adapters, and a network access point, than the WaveLAN stuff?
I can understand $100 for PCMCIA or PCI, but the access point, when
all I need is a bridge to the rest of my network, is kinda pricey..)
