Non punk but still great shows for me in the last year were:

1. OzzFest at Punchestown reaceway in Kildare: Slayer, Drowning pool,
and System doing seriously kick ass shows, most of the other bands were
ok to poor. Officially there was no moshing, but when an entire 18,000
strong audience starts moshing simultaneously its not like you can eject
everyone. Oh and it started a nice warm rain just as the openeing to
Raining Blood Started.

2. Meatloaf in Marley Park Dublin: One of the best live shows I've ever
been to actually. It was a relatively small crowd and most of us were
serious meat fans and it just plain rocked

3. Dream Theater in Dublin: If you don't know Dream Theter you won't
understand. If you do you will. The greatest technical playing I've ever
seen

4. Gambit, first album release party, Temple Bar Music Center Dublin:
Gambit are a hard metal band. Thy're influences are slayer, pantera,
rage against the machine, dream theater, Faith No More etc... Actually
the do a cover of Gentle Art Of Making Enemies that's better than the
original.

They're a Dublin based band who just had their first indie release in
november and are starting to get airplay. If anyone is interested I've
got MP3's of their album, and the artists permission to distribute them.
They just want the exposure.
