[SunHELP] "DT Messaging failed to start" HUH?

I now have my VNCserver running with any windows manager I want, in
theory. All other managers work fine except CDE. I have that auto start when
the vncserver starts and then I log in, the desktop is taking almost an hour
to draw itself. Once it is there it works fine, but an hour wait to get in
is a bit severe.
When the desktop does appear it has a message that must be oked to
clear it. The message reads:

The DT messaging system could not be started.

To correct the problem:

1. Choose [OK] to return to the login screen

2. Select Failsafe Session from the login screen's option menu and log in.

3. Check to see that the hostname is correct in these locations:
   /etc/src.sh
   /etc/hosts
   /usr/adm/inetd.sec

Hitting OK does not return to the login screen but gives me the desktop that
functions correctly. I cannot select failsafe mode because I never get a
login screen. Finally I do not have a src.sh file or a inetd.sec file. The
hosts file appears to be ok though.

Checking the CDE log file shows this:

dtsession: Unable to start message server - exiting

Wed Jul 30 15:22:59 2003 (/usr/dt/bin/dtexec) /bin/sh

Warning: Cannot convert string "-dt-interface

my xstartup file contains this:

#!/bin/sh

xrdb $HOME/.Xresources
xsetroot -solid grey
xterm -geometry 80x24+10+10 -ls -title "$VNCDESKTOP Desktop" &
/usr/dt/bin/Xsession &

My Hosts file contains this:

#
# Internet host table
#
127.0.0.1 localhost
64.5.141.5 TeamWHRO

My path variable is this:

PATH=/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/opt/sfw/bin:/opt/sfw/sbin:/usr/openwin/bin

were vncserver exists at /opt/sfw/bin and xauth is at /usr/openwin/bin

I start VNC using:

vncserver -geometry 1000x730 -name TeamWHRO -depth 16

The content of the log is

As a further note if you use the web interface it comes right up with no
delay. Does anyone have any idea what I may have set wrong? I have a feeling
that it is one little tiny simple thing but I cannot find it.
