The X1 comes with common patch cables and SubD adaptors. If you plug in 
one patch cable end into the Lom Port and the other in the 9pin SubD 
adaptor and then plug the sub D adaptor into your notebook, you should 
be all set. Press Return a few times after giving power to the X1. It 
should say hello. You need to set 9600 8N1 for the communication 
parameters.
