I'm not exactly sure what that means, but I think I understand what your 
hearing...  It's an extension of the religious issues. I will put mine 
aside to try to help.

I would recommend vim (gvim) which can be found compiled for Solaris. I'll 
bet there are binaries out there too. Yes, it is a vi derivative, but it 
the gvim version has a nice gui interface. (as does emacs)

There are many out there that will work on solaris, but you might have to 
compile them. Try looking at the Linux web sites. I understand that joe is 
a goo editor.

My question is this. If vi or emacs are not suitable ask them to describe 
what they are looking for. I'd be interested to hear too.
