[SunHELP] RE: patch problem

The patch level is 108528-10=20
It makes perfect sense that the patch for SUNWspci2 version 2.2.2 should
be applied to a system with SUNWspci2 version 2.2.2 as opposed to
SUNWspci2 version 2.2.1.
I have been searching high and low for a week for the actuall 2.2.2
drivers but could only find the patch. I just rechecked the SUNPCI II
web page and there it was, version 2.2.2, ready for download. Yesterday
it was 2.2.1.

I guess I'll see if this fixes the problem.

Thanks to Craig T. Abram and Greg [gonufer at yahoo.com] for all the help.

SunPCI documentation seems to be incredibly sparce when it comes to
usefull info for trouble shooting problems. I am all ears to anyone who
has any suggestions to make it a little more stable.

Thanks again
Dave Baldwin

For this box I got the rec patch cluster on Monday sep 10. I would tell
you the patch level but I haven't figured out showrev yet. I use
showrev -p and that tells me patch info for all installed patches. How
do I get the patch level from that? Sorry if this is off the original
topic.

Dave

What patch level are u at ? if u are not current maybe get the
recommended cluster from sun, install that then try your patch. I've
installed the pci before on a sun blade and it worked fine

Just tried your suggestion, and still getting the following;

patchadd -d /tmp/111987-01/

Checking installed patches...
One or more patch packages included in
111987-01 are not installed on this system.

Patchadd is terminating.

I read the README and the Install info files, there are a number of
errors listed in there and possible fixes but none match and the few
that are close aren't close enough.

The message "One or more patch packages included in
111987-01 are not installed on this system" is hard to interpret because
the package in that patch is named SUNWspci2 and a long info of the
patch indicates that it is SUNPCI 2.2.2. The package SUNWspci2 (pkginfo
-l says version 2.2.1) is installed. It seems to want SUNWspci2 version
2.2.2 installed before it can install SUNWspci2 version 2.2.2. Is this
some sort of catch 22?

Dave

The patch is in a directory of the same name. So, I am in;=20

/import/ncprob02/SunPC/111987-01=20

And the contents of "/import/ncprob02/SunPC/111987-01" are;

111987-01         README.111987-01

So, the actual patch is;

/import/ncprob02/SunPC/111987-01/111987-01

Strange, eh?
Believe me, I thought of that as a last resort and tried it, just told
me it couldn't find a valid patch package.

Thanks though.

Go to /var/sadm/pkg=20
1. pkgrm SUNWspci2=20

Looks as if you are trying to add the patch from it's directory=20
[root at nocdesk06 111987-01]# patchadd -d 111987-01/
 try cd ../
then pkgadd=20

Hope this helps=20
