Probably not --- at least for this issue.  The limitation
is in the SunOS device driver, not in the machine's firmware.
Sun's 15GB disks work because Sun requested that the drive
vendor use the "honest" drive firmware that doesn't cap
the C/H/S geometry at 8GB to workaround broken PeeCee
BIOS implementations.

That's a kernel patch for TPI, the Ultra 5/10 OBP Update patch
is 106121-14.  There have been no IDE-related changes since the
machine was FCS'd (several SCSI changes, though; isn't that
ironic? ;-)

Upgrading the firmware is not a process to be taken lightly, if anything
goes wrong the machine could be rendered as useful as a brick.  Please
don't recommend updating the firmware unless you're absolutely certain
that it will address the original poster's problem.
