[SunHELP] [Q] Any ideal SUN new server come out schedule?

1. Is the poor performance when you are WRITING to the RAID 5 disks?
2. Has someone who knows firmware WELL checked that the disks,
controllers, etc are up to current & COMPATIBLE levels?
3. I'm pretty sure that the A1000 is capable of hardware mirroring and
    hardware RAID 5.
Are you using the hardware features for your disk redundancy or
are you doing it in software such as Veritas? or DiskSuite?
MOST Especially the RAID 5 areas?
4. Have you looked at output of "iostat -x" to see if you have one
OR more of your disks under extraordinary load, if possibly you
see a ridiculous amount of wait time, or heavy reads & writes are
occurring on the same disk or group of disks? Especially if you
are following the Oracle model of a disk for a tablespace.

Sorry to ask all these questions, but an E450 with quads and 2 GB of
RAM should perform pretty well. We are running 4 of them in the same
type of configs with only 2 or 3 processors. We do have some FC/AL
disk arrays which help, but we also still use some D1000 copper SCSI
stuff on them.
Will be waiting for your response.

Les
