Yes i did. dumb i guess. Dale Ghent on the list suggested reinstalling the
OS. might there be a less drastic way of "patching" this?

Is it possible to configure sendmail to only allow an IP range to send

Thanks,

Can you restore the /var/sadm directory tree from backup? That would be
easier
than doing a fresh install of the OS.

Yes, that's what the sendmail access_db feature is for.

Dale,

Do you have have example syntax or links to documentation. I was unable
to find any documentation that showed how to use the access_db feature
in that manor.

Go to sendmail.org and look for anti-spam tools.

Anthony,

Make sure you have all the prerequisites
installed in order to run ssh.

You need to have openssl, zlib and possibly
libgcc (from gcc 3.0) installed.

If you have these packages installed and you still
get the error, add /usr/local/lib to your
LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable.

Yes I already installed openssl prior to openssh, both are Solaris package
format. I also tried
compiling using openssh-3.0.1p1.tar, but i get this error message

# ./configure
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output... configure: error: C compiler

Any suggestions ....?

You need to install open ssl first and maybe some
other libraries.

Reply-To: sunhelp at sunhelp.org

All,

I seem to have a problem with my printer spool. I have an HP Laserjet 4000
on our network, and Im trying to setup printing services on an Ultra 60,
Solaris 2.6. I have used the jetadmin utility to test the configuration of
the printer and all is okay. Communication should be happening!

However, the printer spool seems to be incorrectly configured. I get the
message below when I try to use the following command:

/usr/ucb/lpr -P printer1_1 /usr/users/myuser/testprint.txt

Seen in root's mail:

Printing stopped with an exit code of 2.

Reason for failure:

It seems the file cannot be found. So, it's possible the file just never

Any and all help would be appreciated, really!

It seems that you have not c compiler.
By default Solaris does not contain any - install gcc

That would technically work, but would be considered messy and unclean.

There's no guaranteeing that the other machine had the same package
and patch config as the other. I would avoid doing that.

I had this problem recently when I did an End User install. None of the
solaris development headers were installed so I had to install them from
CD 2 of Solaris Software CDs. I think there were about 8 pkgs and I
found a list for Solaris 2.6 (same pkg names) by google searching
sunhelp and sunmanagers .org

If you can't find them let me know and I will try to look them up.

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

- From the notes on sunfreeware, it appears openssl doesn't correctly
compile
shared libraries on anything earlier than 2.7. Is this correct, in that
nobody else has been able to get it to work either? I'm willing to put some

elbow grease into it, but not if it's hopeless :-) Specifically, I have
200+
2.6 machines, and though we just got rid of our last 2.5 install a couple
days ago, there is no way I can force another upgrade of that many machines
at once. The senior admin said something about sanity ;-) Anyways, this is

a two part question: has anyone got openssh/openssl compiled on 2.6, and if
so, how? Pre-made packages wouldn't be scorned....

Thanks!
