[SunHELP] $DISPLAY for root

It sounds like you don't have the DISPLAY env variable set and/or no local X 
server running, like Exceed. 
Try setenv DISPLAY your.local.ip.address:0.0 if you're telnetting in. Seems to 
me that shouldn't be necessary when ssh'ing in. I have been wrong before.
