What is the main pattern of access on this system?

A read-mostly workload will be served well by adding more RAM. Write
dominated workloads that have heavily bursty access (lots of seeks and
random I/O) will benefit from write caching such as that provided by
Prestoserve. Long sequential writes will be helped by RAID stripes with
large stripe sizes and many disks. What do typical iostat readings look
like?

If write caching is the answer, Sun made a 32MB SBus NVRAM card that
shipped with some versions of the E150 (Netra nfs150?). Part number is
375-0012, but I don't believe that it was ever "approved" for any other
Sun models.
