This points more to a conflict with the OBP than with the installation of
Solaris.

My first recommendation would be to stick a serial console of some type on
the AXi and watch what happens during startup.  Even if you don't get the
boot banner on your monitor you will probably get some informative
messages through the serial port.

Second is to see if a more recent OBP version fixes anything.  I'm
familiar with the AXi PROM revs and I don't see anything that would affect
it, but updating to the latest version is probably a good idea.

Is it possible you have a dud card?  Can you try placing it in any other
system (even a PC) and see if the system makes it through powerup?
