Hi adrian,

when I type the domainname at the root prompt, it returns the
domaninname(abc.com)

# domainname

the contents of /var/yap dir are following ..

28 -r-xr-xr-x   1 bin      bin        13452 Jul  8 16:51 Makefile
   2 -rw-r--r--   1 root     other        224 Jul 22 15:22 aliases
   2 drwxr-xr-x   3 bin      bin          512 Jul 22 16:56 binding
   2 -rw-r--r--   1 bin      bin          180 Jul  8 16:39 nicknames
   2 -r-x------   1 bin      bin          870 Sep  1  1998 updaters

any more hints please.
