I recall someone (mrbill perhaps) mailing the list about this. Anyone
inquire? I recall buying sparc1's for $50 each a few years back and
getting a couple grand off a competitor's (3 character initial) systems as
trade-ins.

I love my 3gs. I think I lust for those ultrabooks though. I need a
*really fast* non-i386 portable system. Need being quite a bit of a
stretched word for what is essentially a snazzy terminal/workplace
entertainment companion. At the moment the only modern portable machines
within my personal reach are powerbooks which don't currently run my
favorite flavor of freenix (nothing against MacOS which rules, of course
:). Anyone know organizations that lease tadpole gear? Now how about ones
in australia? :)

Either that or what kind of job should I seek that will equip me with a
fancy tadpole system? I'm burned out on a) enterprise suit culture and b)
sleazy internet marketeer culture.

Basically other than military usage what are the kinds of industries that
have applications that require portable open systems?

regards,

neal
