Finally got the ic2-tools installed...... it was in one of the 
repositories and I was able to do it.  Unfortunetly, I still can't use 
it.  When I modprobe eeprom, the computer freezes instantly.  If I skip 
that step decode-dimms asks if I'm sure the eeprom is loaded.
