outline of the story:
after a bit o' industrial espionage, a new far-eastern vendor started
up selling electrolytic caps, cheaper than everyone else, and they got
a pretty fair amount of business.  but they didn't get the special
ingredient[s] in the secret sauce, so their caps go bad after a few
years.  the caps are easy to id, but i've forgotten the details.

my gf's g5 imac fell to this, and apple service, bless their hearts,
gave her their last replacement mb even though it was past even the
extended [for this problem] warrantee.  it's still humming, in a
corner.
