Agreed.  A good B-&-W CRT is awesomely crisp.  Lack of a shadow-mask
helps with that. :-)

And if you gave them a video signal they didn't like, you'd generally
get a squashed version of it, unlike "modern" flat-panels, which IME
don't even try to do anything with it.  (I recall a 4:3 CRT I had that
happily accepted a 1920x1080 video signal - it came out squashed
horizontally and with pixels lost because the signal had finer
resolution than the shadow mask, but OBP was usable.)

Yet another instance of improving something until it loses
functionality, something I'm sure this list knows all about. :-(
