Where is "here?"

On the "Sun-to-serial" issue ... if the Sun in question has a mini-DIN
socket as a serial port, a modem cable for a Macintosh will provide a way to
transition the mini-DIN connector to a normal D-shell connector.  You may
have to then change the gender at the D-shell end, and a null-modem may be
required, too, depending on the device to be connected.  Alternatively, if
you can find the Macintosh modem cable and any cable that connects to the
"other" device, you can cut and splice the wires.

If all that sort of stuff is unavailable where you are, perhaps someone can
send you something.
