The 1st stage bootloader was trying to boot 'cprboot' because OpenBoot was
configured that way:

> Boot device: /iommu/sbus/espdma/esp/sd at 3,0:a  File and args: cprboot

That line of output is from OpenBoot, not the bootstrap.

'cprboot' is a component of 'cpr'--which was introduced in a much later
release of Solaris, so that was the wrong value.  The first stage
bootstrap will usually do the right thing if not told an explicit boot
file.  So, blanking that variable is a good first diagnostic step.
