Of course, but people keep inventing new things to do with their new faster
computers. 

I remember when the company a friend worked for had to split their customer
database in two because the IBM database engine they used was limited to
16m records. Now not only do people have large ones, they talk about
having enough RAM to load all of them at one time.

It depends upon what industry you are referring to.
