Well, not the "everyday" Golf; you have to go fairly far up the Gti/R32 tree
to get 150+ top speed, but, yeah.

The R32 (listed top speed 154 MPH) has a 3.2 liter, 250 HP engine, which is
somewhat outside the image of the Golf as a pleasant econobox, or even as a
"hot hatch."  3.2 liters and 250 HP is pretty close to the E-Type's specs,
too, oddly enough.  I'll bet it's a blast to drive.

One thing you don't see too much of, in this part of France (mid-South, not
on the coast), is performance cars.  Lots of folks driving regular cars
fast, yeah, but identifiable performance cars, nah.
