[rescue] Ultrix or What to do with a VAX 4000/300 DSSI

I have aquired a VAX 4000/300 with DSSI disk (internal). It currently
has VMS (an old version) installed on it, and not really knowing
anything about VMS I would like to get a unix version installed on it.

I attempted to put NetBSD on this machine, but it does not see the
internal disk. I believe that a KFQSA controller is installed, and I
also believe that the disks which were previously attached externally
would work, however the screws in the disk enclosure rack are absolutly
frozen, and now stripped.

So, I am curious whether anyone knows how to obtain a version of Ultrix
which might work on this machine. What I am hoping is that I do not
have to move the rack / enclosure up my three flights of stairs.
Additionally, this rack has the tape drives (large reel and compact), so
a network installation of Ultrix would be desireable.

If you have any ideas, please let me know. I really don't want this
machine to rot.

David
